Frequently Asked Questions
What is an Assemblies of God Church?
The Assemblies of God views itself as a cooperative fellowship, not a denomination.
The Assemblies of God is protestant, as opposed to Catholic, just as Baptists, Methodists, and Presbyterians are protestant. The Assemblies of God is also Pentecostal, meaning that its members believe that God moves the same today as He did in the first century, baptizing people in the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues and giving gifts of the Spirit, such as the gift of prophecy.
What time are your services?
We currently have one Sunday morning worship service at 10:00am.

How should I dress?
Groton Assembly is a “come as you are” church. We care about you and are thrilled when you join us, regardless of how you dress or what you look like. Most of us dress casually.
What type of music will there be?
For us, worship is more than just song sets, it is about bringing our hearts before God to glorify Him. Through song, we celebrate who God is and what He has done for us through His Son Jesus Christ as well as express our love and commitment to Him. Our worship teams generally select contemporary songs and utilize various instruments. Occasionally we will also sing more traditional songs or hymns.
What does a typical worship service look like?
Our services last about 90 minutes. Announcements are shared at the beginning of the service and via our church app. Typically our worship lasts 20-30 minutes and is followed by someone’s sharing a message from the Bible. We encourage and allow people to seek God up front near the stage (altar area) both during worship and at the end of the service.
Will I be asked to give money?
No. We believe that there are Biblical principles of giving; however, giving is between you and God. For those who like, we do have an option to give through our church app as well as a “tithes & offerings” box at the back of the sanctuary.
Are there any Bible studies?
Life Groups offers Bible studies Sunday mornings at 9:00am before the worship service and on Tuesday nights, 6:30pm-7:45 pm, in the youth hall downstairs. Additionally, Life Groups are held in people’s homes during the week. Life Groups give us an opportunity to study the Bible together, discuss its application, and build life together.
